Nestled on the vibrant streets of Portland, El Coyote is a Mexican restaurant that truly captures the essence of authentic, heartfelt cuisine. This hidden gem at 6965 N Fessenden St invites you to indulge in a flavorful journey packed with fresh ingredients and masterful preparation that tantalizes every sense.
El Coyote’s menu shines with a variety of beloved Mexican staples, expertly crafted to heighten your dining experience. Start with their Quesadillas, each served with crisp lettuce, zesty pico de gallo, creamy guacamole, and cooling sour cream—perfectly balanced to awaken your palate. The Sincronizada is a standout, featuring savory ham, melty cheese, sharp jalapeños, and a side of fresh toppings that add irresistible texture and flavor.
Their Tortas are a hearty celebration of bold combinations: the Torta Cubana layers guacamole, fresh vegetables, milanesa, sausage, egg, cheese, ham, and mayo into a satisfying sandwich bursting with contrasts of creamy, spicy, and savory. For something with a tropical twist, the Torta Hawaiian mixes ham, chicken, pineapple, and jalapeños—an unforgettable fusion of sweet and spicy wrapped in soft bread.
Seafood lovers will find bliss in El Coyote’s tacos. The Shrimp Taco Camaron and Fish Taco Pescado offer perfectly grilled seafood resting on warm tortillas, topped with crisp cabbage, vibrant pico de gallo, and a flavorful sauce that adds a zesty punch to every bite. Traditional tacos with onions and cilantro round out the options, always fresh, vibrant, and satisfying.
The atmosphere at El Coyote emanates a cozy, welcoming vibe, with vibrant colors and a slightly tucked-away charm that make it a perfect spot for a casual lunch or a relaxed evening meal. Guests often highlight the friendly and speedy service, adding to the warm and inviting experience that makes you feel like part of a local secret discovered.
Reviewers consistently rave about the exceptional quality and authenticity here. Really nice hidden taco truck if you blink you would miss it. I was in the the area doing some work. So we stopped there for lunch. The tacos were on point! Super hot and fresh. The hot sauces were really flavorful as well. Definitely would recommend this place when you looking for some quick lunch.

Best green sauce around! The carnitas meat is soft and crispy, the way it should be.

I used to live by this cart and get a breakfast burrito with sausage 3 times a week. I also loved lunch or dinner here at leave once a week. Fish tacos are amazing, shrimp tacos are amazing, burritos are amazing. There is always great flavor and never a dry bite which I love.
